Using cards

Here's a basic explanation of how to use Trello cards.

Card basics

A couple of important characteristics:

  1. The title. Make it clear and concise. Ideally, it communicates a goal or desired end state, and has implied boundaries in space/time/scope.
  2. The description. This should contain all information about the card. What is the goal? What information do we need? Which steps need to be taken? Why are we doing this?
  3. An optional due date. Cards that are (almost) due are more easily visible, and card members will receive notifications.
  4. Attachments. These can be files you can upload by dragging them onto the card or links to any URL, including URLs of other trello cards.
